Why Two Cats are Better than One

If you're considering adopting a cat, you may think that one is enough. Of course, one cat makes a wonderful companion… but there are compelling reasons to consider adopting two cats instead of one:

Companionship -- Cats can thrive when they have a feline friend to interact with. By adopting two cats, you're providing them with a ready-made companion who will keep them company and help prevent loneliness and boredom.  Plus, many cats are “bonded” in pairs, and need to be adopted and kept together.

Less Destructive Behavior -- Cats are notorious for scratching furniture and other household items. However, when cats have a feline friend, they tend to be less destructive as they have someone to play with and expend their energy on, rather than taking it out on your belongings.

They Learn from Each Other -- Especially in the case of kittens, pairs of cats learn from one another.  Upon adoption, cats in a pair often have an easier transition to their new home.  They can teach each other how to use the litter box, for example, or learn from one another which household behaviors are inappropriate, such as jumping up on tables.

Health Benefits… For You and Your Cats -- Having two cats in the house can provide health benefits for both you and your furry friends. Studies have shown that petting cats can reduce stress and lower blood pressure, and having two cats to pet and interact with can double your relaxation and stress relief.

You’re Saving Lives -- Many shelters and rescue organizations have a harder time finding homes for bonded pairs of cats, as people often prefer to adopt just one. By adopting two cats, you're not only providing a loving home, but you're also helping to free up space in shelters for other cats in need.

Fun!  -- Watching cats -- especially young ones -- play with each other can be endlessly entertaining. Adopting two cats means you'll have twice the amount of fun watching them chase each other, play with toys, and cuddle up together.

Adopting two cats instead of one can be a great decision for both you and your new furry friends. With built-in companionship, an easier transition to their new home, health benefits, and endless entertainment, adopting a pair of cats can be a rewarding and enriching experience.
